About The Historic Kenwood Neighborhood

There’s a lot to love about St. Petersburg’s artsy and diverse Historic Kenwood neighborhood, and for many prospective home buyers it starts with the amazing homes and home styles you’ll find scattered all throughout the area. And in this particular part of town, it’s truly all about the bungalow.

It’s said that Historic Kenwood has one of the highest concentrations of authentic Craftsman-style bungalows in all of Florida, making it the ideal place to begin a search for anybody who loves a little bit of charm and character associated with where they call home. Low-pitched gabled roofs, beamed ceilings, brick chimneys, and large front porches with thick square columns are just some of the common characteristics you’ll find mixed into a classic Historic Kenwood bungalow, but the design elements and general appeal of these quaint single-family residences hardly stops there.

Outside of all the amazing bungalow-style homes you'll find here, Historic Kenwood is also very well-known for lively Central Avenue, a bustling commercial corridor filled with casual restaurants, beer bars, and eclectic cafes and art studios. Additionally, many of the neighborhood’s brick streets are both tree-lined and relatively quiet, helping making Historic Kenwood one of St. Petersburg’s most walkable neighborhoods. And given Downtown St. Petersburg is only a straight shot down Central Avenue from Historic Kenwood, future home owners will only be about a 10-minute drive from the heart of the city and its scenic waterfront.

Historic Kenwood Amenities & Attractions

As alluded to above, Historic Kenwood’s amenities and attractions largely center around the Central Avenue district, a walkable commercial strip loaded with some of St. Petersburg’s coolest locally-owned establishments. The hip and minimalist-chic Bandit Coffee Co. is definitely one of our favorite places to grab a cup of Joe in the morning and if you haven’t made it over to the Baba Restaurant & Bakery or URBAN Brew & BBQ for dinner yet, what are you waiting for?!

Other top destinations in Historic Kenwood include Seminole Park, a shaded neighborhood green space with a playground, picnic area, and walking paths; The Dog Bar, an indoor / outdoor bar with off-leash doggie play areas; and Right Around the Corner Arcade Brewery, a dog-friendly brewpub featuring vintage arcade games, a pool table, and plenty of outdoor seating.
